I see you mama

I see you mama,

Baby in one arm,

Washing basket in the other.

Collecting toys with your feet

And Stirring a pot,

With your one arm free.

Doing your best,

Tired as hell.

Will they eat? Will they sleep?

There’s no way to tell.

I see you mama,

Pushing the pram in the corridor,

Just in the hope,

That they’ll sleep some more.

I see you mama,

Carrier on around the house,

They’re finally asleep

So you’re as quiet as a mouse.

All you want is some time for ‘me’,

Some time to sit,

Some time to read.

Then the day passes

You didn’t get that space,

But you know it’s all worth it

When you see that little face.

Maybe tomorrow will be different,

I might get more time,

You never know how it’ll go

On this very wild ride.

To the mums after me,

It can be hard & days can be slow,

It does gets easier,

This, I’m told so.

I’m slowly getting there,

Finding my feet.

Learning what to expect,

Navigating the new ‘me’.

To the mums before me,

Some days I need motivation.

Is it normal? I think it is.

Do you know, you’re my inspiration?!!
