Adelaide marriage celebrant, MC & published Poet

Most celebrants deliver a ceremony. Renée writes yours.

Renée is a published Poet and Author who crafts ceremonies the way she writes everything else: with heart, honesty, and just the right amount of humour. Yours will be the kind of ceremony that has your guests laughing, crying, and reliving your love story throughout.

The difference a Poet makes

"I've always loved reflecting on the beauty in the mundane, romanticising life, if you will. And that's exactly what I bring into every ceremony I create."

Plenty of celebrants will marry you. Renée will sit with you, listen to how you actually met, what you argue about in the car, the moment you knew, and then write a ceremony that sounds like the two of you and no one else.

And if you want it, she'll write you something no other celebrant can: an original poem, composed just for your day, that you keep forever.

Ceremonies

Ways that Renée can tell your story, with all the heart and humour it deserves.

Also: elopements somewhere other than Marybank, commitment ceremonies, MC services for your reception, and personalised poetry commissions. Just ask.

How it works

Simple from your side. All the craft happens on Renée's desk.

Say hello

Send through your date and a little about you both. Renée will confirm she's free and set up a relaxed first chat, no obligation.

Tell her your story

Over a cuppa or a call, Renée asks the questions no one else thinks to ask, and listens properly. This is where your ceremony starts.

She writes. You celebrate.

Renée crafts your ceremony word by word, refines it with you until it's right, then delivers it on the day so you can just be present.

★★★★★

"Can't speak higher of our amazing celebrant, Renée. She captured our love story perfectly and made it exactly 'us'. She knew we were very relaxed, chilled out people and she captured that perfectly. She reassured us through the whole process, checked in with us both individually and made sure we were both comfortable. She answered any small or big question we had and instantly made us feel at ease on such a nerve-racking day. Couldn't rate her higher! Thanks again Renée for helping make our day perfect! Xxx"

"I can't thank Renée enough for making Luke and I's wedding day so seamlessly amazing! From the meetings before the wedding to the chaotic rehearsal she came to and then on the day, she guided us every step of the way and always made us feel like we could ask and lean on her for absolutely anything. Her beautiful words during our ceremony and the way she carried herself throughout the day left us feeling so overjoyed and we knew we made the right choice in having her marry us! xxx"

"I met Renée through the venue we hired for our wedding via a package deal, which can be daunting but rest assure she's your girl! 💕 From the first meeting until our special day she was warm, thoughtful and made us feel at ease with all the steps we had to go through! Her warmth made us feel like we were long time friends 💕 Really special!

Besides that she made herself available if we had any questions, and for my non-speaking family members she helped me to find a way to include them in the ceremony 🥹"

Meet Renée

Poet. Author. Hopeless sentimental.

Renée has been writing since she was seven. After years in high-target corporate management, and, in her own words, a journey "from stilettos to slippers" as an Adelaide mum of two, she became a qualified civil celebrant and MC. But really, this work began long before the certificate.

Her collection Mother Me and children's book Dear Darling grew from love letters to her daughters. Her poetry has travelled far beyond Adelaide, translated and shared around the world. Between ceremonies she hosts journalling workshops on connection and story. When she stands up at your ceremony, that's the writer telling your story.

She'll happily admit she's a softy. That's rather the point.

Much love, Ren

Heart work on paper

Both of Renée's books began as love letters to her daughters, and her poems have travelled the world. Your ceremony comes from the same pen.

Questions couples ask

Can you legally marry us?

Yes. Renée is a qualified civil celebrant, so your ceremony is the real, legal deal: the Notice of Intended Marriage, the certificates, all of it, handled with care. And she's a qualified MC too, if you'd like her voice to carry through to the reception.

How far ahead should we book?

Popular dates can book out a year or more ahead, and Renée takes a limited number of ceremonies each season so every couple gets her full attention. Short notice weddings and elopements are sometimes possible, so it is always worth asking.

Do you travel outside Adelaide?

Yes. Renée is based in Adelaide and regularly travels to the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale, the Barossa Valley and the Fleurieu Peninsula. Travel within greater Adelaide is included, and a small travel fee may apply further afield. Renée will confirm any travel costs in your quote.

How much does a wedding celebrant cost in Adelaide?

Renée's full wedding ceremonies start from $1,500, which buys something no template ceremony can offer: your story written from scratch by a published Author, with an original poem composed just for you if you would like one. Elopements, vow renewals, naming days and poetry commissions are quoted individually. Tell Renée a little about your day and she'll send through the details.

Do you celebrate LGBTQIA+ weddings?

Absolutely. Renée welcomes couples of every gender, orientation, culture and background, and honours love in all its forms. Every love story deserves to be told with care.

Can you write us a poem even if you're not our celebrant?

Yes. Renée takes commissions for personalised poetry for weddings, anniversaries, and special occasions. Just mention it in your enquiry.
